2nd Grade Homework
Reading:
Students will be expected to read each night for at least 20 minutes. The number of pages read should be recorded by the student in his/ her agenda and signed by the parent. Students should then discuss what they read with their parents.
Math:
Students should practice their math facts 5-10 minutes daily. Fluency of addition and subtraction facts 0-20 (by memory) is expected by the end of second grade. Students will also be adding and subtracting within 100 using math strategies taught in class.
* Please use the evenings as an opportunity to spend time with your child by reading, playing games, or just talking. Second grade is a time for students to become proficient in using language to communicate facts and opinions. These discussions will help your child become a better writer and increase his/ her vocabulary.
Remember to check the agenda and orange folder daily for additional assignments and suggestions regarding your child's needs.
